Commentary of the picture:

Dushy’s three-dimensional creations emerged from the inspiration to mix different techniques and surprising elements in his process of art production. His style of urban art considers beauty and aesthetics by including a series of appealing, popular characters in order to con-nect to people. Falling in Love, in the Carmen Thyssen collection, combines about twenty images of legendary personalities from the world of comics, film, cartoons and art – icons of the 20th century.

In the centre of the work appear three-dimensional images of Mickey and Minnie Mouse, embracing over the word LOVE. These two Disney figures are especially striking, being made of black lacquered metal superimposed on the red lacquered metal letters LOVE (inspirad by the Pop sculptures of Robert Indiana). This central group takes on a double three-dimensionality and gives the work its name. The artist highlights the scene with messages about the heart, dreams, passion and leve, stencilled with spray paint. The 30 word HAPPINESS catches the eye. Continuing the technique of stencilling with spray paint, we see Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Snow White, Mary Poppins, Jessica Rabbit and the characteristic dancing figures of the artist Keith Haring. Collage appears in the portraits of Marilyn Monroe, Superwoman, Super¬man, Winnie the Pooh and his loyal friend Tigger, the lovers from the film Dirty Dancing, Daffy Duck, Tweety, Tom and Jerry, and the face of Brigitte Bardot. Standing out at the base of the work are two black lacquered silhouettes of two kissing couples seated on bicy¬cles. Five brightly-coloured 3D butterflies decorate the ensemble. Equally, the artist gives a light-hearted nod to graffiti art by adding paint splashes between the characters and dripping paint effects on the upper edge of the painting.

One of the original features of Dushy’s work is the support he uses far his creation, seven joined wooden panels that resemble an out¬door fence. With its colourful artistic language and positivity, this surface conveys the expressiveness of the urban artist who sends an invitation to the public to take part in his creativa experience.
